Our story started at the supper table…

Years ago, cattleman and horseman Tom Curtin introduced us to the Longhorn in their pastures and at their supper table. With the Longhorn’s beauty and gentle nature, ability to thrive on marginal pasture, and the taste of the meat, we quickly learned why this iconic cattle had taken its rightful place in history. When we left our ranch in Florida to return to the northeast, we knew right away we’d be raising Longhorn, for show and for the exceptional quality, taste, and heart-healthy benefits of the beef.

We’ve had an incredible journey, and along the way, we’ve fallen in love with the Longhorn community, from the seasoned Oklahoma cattlemen to the Northeast rancher. Our aim is to become great stewards of this iconic American original and see if we can breed something extraordinary, make our mark, and, along the way, dine on the Best Beef America Can Put on a Plate.

Grijalva Cattle Co. (Gree-hal-va) is a family-owned operation founded in 2020 and located in North Stonington, CT. Yuri is originally from Ecuador but grew up in the Northeast; he spent his early childhood watching Spaghetti Westerns and John Wayne movies and imagining a life on the range. Kim also grew up in the Northeast, setting up Breyer horse farm on her sculpted seventies hot pink carpeting. Fast-forward 50 years, their daughter Rylie has joined them, and together, they manage all of the farm's day-to-day operations, breeding program, and beef program with a focus on humanely-raised, climate-smart agroecosystems to produce beef that sets the bar for healthy and sustainable food.
